Like The best or nothing may be Mercedes’ tagline, but what do you do when even the best falls a little bit short of your expectations? Or budget? You turn to Maybach, of course! For the connoisseurs, the mighty GLS, which is already the biggest Benz there, is being mated to Maybach can only mean one thing - OTT opulence. And boy, does it deliver on that front! One look at it and you know it’s not owned by someone who’s paying EMIs. Maybach specific chrome grille with vertical louvres, detailed bumpers with more chrome, massive 22in wheels, requisite Maybach badging on the D-pillar and the option to spec a second row of seats that’s second only to a private Gulfstream. Under the hood, a potent 4.0L twin-turbo V8 gets additional zing from a 48V hybrid system for an instant EQ-boost as Merc likes to call it. But really, it’s all about the insides with individual second-row seats that offer massaging and reclining. A strategically mounted fridge will hold a bottle of bubbly along with a couple of polished flutes to celebrate out-of-turn victories, even if you’re stuck in the middle of rush hour traffic. The GLS Maybach (from ₹2.4cr) will be offered with captain seats that are fully powered with leg extensions, massage programs and ventilation. Enough charging ports and speakers ensure no one gets hurt. Two 12.3in screens run on the MBUX system that is controlled by voice, touch, thumb pads and mousepad! You could even use Alexa or Google Home for key commands while finishing Lucifer! Want more? Get a room at the Lake Palace.
