Urban yuppies have another way to spend their hard-earned or inherited ₹40 lacs, thanks to the new Mercedes-Benz GLA. This midlife refresh gives it much more street presence with a new bolder front grille that is the first thing you notice about this facelifted GLA. The headlamps get new LED High Performance illumination and the tail lamps too get a new crystal look and innovative reflector technology so you can dazzle them not just with the tristar. Inside the cabin, 12 colour options for the ambient lighting to suit your mood or your suit, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support make an appearance. New bits like an illuminated door sill and new trim options finish off the newer-looking interior while under the hood, you get the option of the same engines - GLA 200 (petrol), GLA 220d (diesel) and the GLA 220d 4Matic (diesel, 4-wheel drive). All engines get the 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox and power ranges from 182bhp for the GLA 200 petrol and 138bhp/168bhp for the FWD and 4WD diesel variants respectively. Safety has been bumped up too and besides 7 airbags, it also gets the usual plethora of driving aids like EBS, BAS and DSR (Downhill Speed Regulation) and Merc’s Attention Assist that gives the steering a little jolt if it senses you dozing off halfway through the daily crawl. The new Mercedes-Benz GLA is priced ₹30.65 lacs upward. We’ll be trying to get our hands on one soon for a test.
