Nikon, the stalwarts of optics and imaging, and the choice of DSLR diehards has made a pivotal entrance onto shutter island with not one, but two full-frame mirrorless cameras - The Z6 (1,81,950 body-only) and Z7 (2,69,950). Just like your dad’s dress-sense, Nikon haven’t changed its mount for 100 years. Roused from its DSLR stubbornness, it’s the company’s largest and most exciting mount yet, with a diameter of 55mm, the Sony E-mount is 46.7mm for comparison. The 24.4 MP Z6 and Z7 have similar specs, a built-in 5 axis-stabilisation, an ISO range of 100 - 51,200 is weather and dust resistant, with an LCD touch-screen which even allows you to tap the screen to take a shot. The Z7 is the more premium offering specifically aimed at the pixel-hungry dealing with close crops or large landscape photography. With its 45.7MP sensor that can handle 9fps, superior autofocus system with an ISO range of 64-25,600, the Z7 has a huge 493 focal points compared to only 399 on the Sony a7RIII. Fully prepared for video with 8K time lapse, NLog profile, focus peaking and zebra. The sister models sharing similar specs, that reassuring sturdy grip, the Z cameras stay true to the Nikon design and ergonomics, Nikon are making a come-back bigger than ABBA’s. And we’re taking a chance on that. The Z7 will be available in india from September 27, whereas, you’ll have to wait till November for the Z6.
