Flat-panel TVs and their speakers induce a love hate relationship with their owners. Soundbars provide an acceptable boost but are unidimensional. With Dolby Atmos and DTS:X offering the promise of sound above and behind you, Sony’s newest range of soundbars, especially the Z9F bridges the gap between 'home- theatre’ and tin cans around the room crying for help. The slim unit is designed to fit seamlessly with Sony’s own Bravia range of TVs, with dimensions that fit perfectly between the edge stands of the TV. But it’s the Vertical Sound Engine that sprinkles magic dust around the room, creating virtual height speakers that simulate a soundfield close to a true 5.1 HT system. Add twin HDMI inputs with 4K HDR pass through and you can make this the hub of your different entertainment sources. The Sony Z9F is available for ₹59,990 and will hit the markets from July 8.
