Bowers & Wilkins aims higher

Signature edition of 700 series speakers launched
25 June 2020 / 1:19IST

Only a few years after their original launch, the mainstay of the British brand’s legendary speaker range has been given the VIP treatment, complete with a plaque to make sure you don’t mix it up with any ordinary 700 series. The 705 standmounted (bookshelf) speaker and the 702 floorstander, both receive changes under their sustainable skin that is, by the way, Datuk Gloss ebony veneer and no two pairs will share the same grain structure. Sonically, there are improvements as expected to the crossover, carbon dome tweeter and the Continuum midrange driver; the 702 also adds a new cone material for the bass drivers that use a composite structure of inner and outer skins filled with polystyrene. Both the models also share upgraded heatsinks, crossover components and more brownie points amongst your audiophile peers. Sold by AudioVision India, they should be coming to a specialty dealer near you soon!
