Ever since I saw that white Lotus Esprit in the Bond flick, "The Spy Who Loved Me,” I’ve wanted a car I could use to fend off bad guys and drive off the end of a pier...

That’s why I’m praying that the Rinspeed sQuba will make it into production. It comes from the same team that designed the transparent eXasis car and claims to be the world’s first submersible car. It’s powered by several electric motors and has two Seabob jet drives hidden away in front. According to the press release, it “moves like a fish in water” to a depth of around ten metres – let’s just hope it doesn't drive like a fish out of water, eh? Unfortunately, unlike the Lotus, it surface-to-air missiles aren't going to be fitted as standard - shucks...

The sQuba has a saltwater resistant interior, which is a good job considering it looks like a hard top version is out of the question. Our suggestion? Keep your Speedos in the glove box and your scuba gear in the boot…
