Electronic Arts says it&rsquo;s the former with Battlefield Hardline, the cops-and-robbers spinoff of the shooter series that will now launch in 2015 instead of this October.</p> <p>In a blog post on the matter, Karl Magnus Troedsson of Battlefield series creator DICE&mdash;which is working in tandem with new lead developer Visceral Games&mdash;says that the delay will allow the teams to implement new ideas pulled from the community following the recent multiplayer beta test, as well as flesh out the single-player story content and focus on online stability.</p> <p>And it&rsquo;s not the only big EA game to slide down the calendar, but luckily, the slip isn&rsquo;t nearly as severe with Dragon Age: Inquisition. And within any results, you can dig deeper to find out actors and actresses, peruse their other roles, see relevant YouTube clips, and more.</p> <p>Android TV also features full Google Cast support, so you can fling content from your phone or tablet and treat it like a Chromecast.</p> <p>Asus and Razer are working on Android TV set top boxes that will debut this fall, while the 2015 Smart TV lines from Sony, Sharp, and Philips will also feature it. Developers can get their hands on the SDK tomorrow to begin adapting their apps and games to play nice with Google&rsquo;s big-screen interface, and Google is also making available a test set top box to help them optimize their experiences for upcoming hardaware.</p> <p><strong>READ MORE: <a href="http://www.stuff.tv/android/google-io-2014/8-things-you-need-know-about-android-l/news">8 things you need to know about Android L</a></strong></p> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-hcmvideofield-video field-field-brightcove-video"> <div class="field-label">Video ID/URL:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <div class="messages warning">This video is not currently supported.</div> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-image"> <div class="field-label">Image #1:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_image" width="1200" height="671" title="NBA Jam" alt="NBA Jam" src="http://images.cdn.stuff.tv/sites/stuff.tv/files/androidtv-nbajam.png?1403746138" /> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-make-full-width"> <div class="field-label">Make full width:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Do not make full width </div> </div> </div> </fieldset> </fieldset> <p><a href="http://www.stuff.tv/android/google-io-2014/android-tv-targeting-set-top-boxes-smart-tvs-starting-autumn/news" target="_blank">read more</a></p> http://www.stuff.tv/android/google-io-2014/android-tv-targeting-set-top-boxes-smart-tvs-starting-autumn/news#comments Android Film and TV Google Google I/O 2014 TVs Wed, 25 Jun 2014 21:57:00 +0000 Andrew Hayward 1440124 at http://www.stuff.tv Fully Charged: The smart cup that knows what you drink, a massive £1 million TV, and Tesla Motors gifts its electric tech to the world http://www.stuff.tv/tesla/fully-charged-smart-cup-knows-what-you-drink-massive-1-million-tv-and-tesla-motors-open-source <div class="field field-type-text field-field-standfirst"> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Begin the end of the workweek with a look at the coolest tech news around </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-enable-hero"> <div class="field-label">Enable hero:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Enable full width image </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-main-image"> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_main_image" width="1200" height="900" title="Vessyl" alt="Vessyl" src="http://images.cdn.stuff.tv/sites/stuff.tv/files/images/news/vessyl.jpg?1402652530" /> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-userreference field-field-byline"> <div class="field-label">Byline:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <a href="/users/andrew-hayward" title="View user profile.">Andrew Hayward</a> </div> </div> </div> <fieldset class="content-multigroup-group-sections"><legend>News Section</legend><fieldset class="content-multigroup-wrapper content-multigroup-0"><div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-section-paginate"> <div class="field-label">Paginate on this section:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Don't paginate </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-title"> <div class="field-label">Title:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Vessyl is a smart cup that can ID (and track) your beverages </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-body"> <div class="field-label">Body:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <p>Tracking food and drinks is an extremely helpful way to manage your daily caloric intake and try to get fit, but having to manually enter everything tends to derail even the best of intentions for busy, tech-savvy folks. It has some unique features, too &ndash; and Stuff ventured out to <a href="http://www.bang-olufsen.com/en" target="_blank">B&amp;O</a> headquarters in Struer to see them up close and personal.</p> <p><strong>Was it worth the trip? </strong><br />Oh yes. The BeoVision Avant is quite a sight &ndash; a sleek aluminium and glass affair with a 55in 4K screen. It&#39;s quite chunky &ndash; at 9.64cm deep, it&#39;s no slimline flatscreen &ndash; but a clever layered design creates a depth-masking illusion. Around the back, two sliding aluminium panels conceal the ports &ndash; and there are no visible screws to be found anywhere on the TV set. It&#39;s all done in the name of &quot;360-degree design&quot; &ndash; ensuring that the back of the set is as nice to look at as the front.</p> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-hcmvideofield-video field-field-brightcove-video"> <div class="field-label">Video ID/URL:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <div class="messages warning">This video is not currently supported.</div> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-make-full-width"> <div class="field-label">Make full width:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Do not make full width </div> </div> </div> </fieldset> <fieldset class="content-multigroup-wrapper content-multigroup-1"><div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-section-paginate"> <div class="field-label">Paginate on this section:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Don't paginate </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-body"> <div class="field-label">Body:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <p><strong>Why&#39;s that, then? Surely the screen is the bit I&#39;ll be watching. </strong><br />There&#39;s every chance that you&#39;ll be admiring the back of the Avant, thanks to its impressive party piece. Switch the set on, and it swivels to face one of three preset positions in the room on its motorised stand.</p> <p>There are three different stands, in fact &ndash; the most impressive is the floor stand, which features a rotating base and column. That means that the Avant can be tucked up against the wall, but will move out from the wall to face your chosen seating position; obviously, if you&#39;re in the market for one of these TVs, you have a massive lounge with a dining table in one corner and sofas in the other.</p> <p>The other stands are more simple; there&#39;s a hinged wall mount, and a table mount that lifts the set up from an angled resting position to vertical.</p> <p><strong>Sounds like quite a performance.&nbsp;</strong><br />It certainly is; switch the set on, and &quot;electronic curtains&quot; will part, revealing the screen &ndash; a standard feature on Bang &amp; Olufsen sets. New to the BeoVision Avant is the speaker array that drops down from the bottom of the screen, sliding apart to reveal the three-speaker setup. </p> <p>This being B&amp;O, no detail has been left to chance &ndash; the startup procedure has been timed so that the stand, the speaker array and the electronic curtains move at the same rate, completing their motion at the same time.</p> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-hcmvideofield-video field-field-brightcove-video"> <div class="field-label">Video ID/URL:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <div class="video-wrapper brightcove-player-wrapper"> <script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript" src="http://admin.brightcove.com/js/BrightcoveExperiences.js"></script> <script src="http://admin.brightcove.com/js/APIModules_all.js"></script> <div class="brightcove-player"> <object id="myExperience-3547297994001" class="BrightcoveExperience"> <param name="bgcolor" value="#000000" /> <param name="playerID" value="" /> <param name="playerKey" value="AQ~~,AAAAEgPmGlk~,Fzd-TvXcznw-P3piHaryQBMeIzWITldz" /> <param name="isVid" value="true" /> <param name="isUI" value="true" /> <param name="dynamicStreaming" value="true" /> <param name="@videoPlayer" value="3547297994001" /> <param name="autoStart" value="" /> <param name="htmlFallback" value="true" /> <param name="includeAPI" value="true" /> <param name="templateLoadHandler" value="brightcoveTemplateLoaded" /> <param name="width" value="640px" /> <param name="height" value="360px" /> </object> <!-- This script tag will cause the Brightcove Players defined above it to be created as soon as the line is read by the browser. But what about the specs? </strong><br />The Avant sports a 55in, 3840x2160 pixel LED panel, with local backlight dimming for clearer blacks and an anti-reflective glass screen. The screen on each set is calibrated using a 10-point factory measurement procedure, so if you don&#39;t like the screen on one set, you can fairly guarantee that you won&#39;t like any Avant &ndash; because they&#39;re all outputting the same picture.</p> <p>B&amp;O&#39;s also kitted out the Avant with Chromatic Room Adaptation. A dual light sensor unit on the top right of the set measures the light levels and colour tone of the ambient light, adjusting the white point of the picture to suit. So if the light in your room&#39;s reddish, it&#39;ll slowly dial up the red to keep the perceived colour on the screen neutral.</p> <p><strong>Sounds good.</strong><br />So does the Avant. That little speaker array packs in three 2in midrange speakers for left, right and centre channels. That means that dialogue can be fed through the centre channel, where the faces appear on screen &ndash; just like a cinema speaker system. There&#39;s also a 4in forward-facing woofer and a rear-facing 6.5in woofer, powered by a 60w class D amplifier. Depending on whether the TV&#39;s mounted on a wall or facing out into the room, the TV will adjust the bass to optimise performance and minimise distortion.</p> <p>If that isn&#39;t enough noise for you, there are 21 output channels (eight wireless, ten wired, and the TV&#39;s own three channels). You can connect a 7.1 surround sound system wirelessly; if you&#39;re using B&amp;O&#39;s own speakers, it&#39;ll recognise the model and adjust sensitivity, latency and bass sensitivity accordingly. And you can create up to 9 speaker groups, to suit your different viewing positions.</p> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-image"> <div class="field-label">Image #1:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_image" width="1200" height="900" title="If you&#039;re boring, you can choose the cabinet stand." alt="Bang &amp; Olufsen BeoVision Avant" src="http://images.cdn.stuff.tv/sites/stuff.tv/files/bang-and-olufsen-beovision-avant-04_0.jpg?1399702238" /> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-image-2"> <div class="field-label">Image #2:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_image_2" width="1200" height="900" title="The Avant&#039;s speaker array." alt="Bang &amp; Olufsen BeoVision Avant" src="http://images.cdn.stuff.tv/sites/stuff.tv/files/bang-and-olufsen-beovision-avant-03_0.jpg?1399702238" /> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-image-3"> <div class="field-label">Image #3:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_image_3" width="1200" height="900" title="Does your sitting room look like this? Yes, it means shelling out an extra &pound;50-&pound;100 for smart TV capability, but let&#39;s be honest: if you&#39;re in the market for a Bang &amp; Olufsen TV, that&#39;s not going to make a dent in your bank account.</p> <p><strong>Yeah, about that &ndash; how much does it cost?</strong><br />Surprisingly little for a Bang &amp; Olufsen 4K TV, actually. The motorised stands add an extra&nbsp;&pound;1195 to the price, while a static stand can be had for &pound;600.</p> <p><strong>READ MORE: <a href="http://www.stuff.tv/hot-stuff" target="_blank">More awesome Hot Stuff</a></strong></p> <p><iframe frameborder="0" height="180" src="http://pages.haymarket.com/stuff_signup/enews_embed" width="300"></iframe></p> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-image"> <div class="field-label">Image #1:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_image" width="1200" height="900" title="The BeoRemote 1 is also an effective melee weapon" alt="Bang &amp; Olufsen BeoRemote 1" src="http://images.cdn.stuff.tv/sites/stuff.tv/files/bang-and-olufsen-beovision-avant-02.jpg?1399702238" /> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-image-2"> <div class="field-label">Image #2:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_image_2" width="1200" height="900" title="Hands-on with the Bang &amp; Olufsen BeoRemote 1" alt="Bang &amp; Olufsen BeoRemote 1" src="http://images.cdn.stuff.tv/sites/stuff.tv/files/bang-and-olufsen-beovision-avant-hands-on-02.jpg?1399702238" /> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-image-3"> <div class="field-label">Image #3:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_image_3" width="1200" height="900" title="If your decorations are chintzy, the TV actually makes a crying noise when you turn it on." alt="Bang &amp; Olufsen BeoVision Avant" src="http://images.cdn.stuff.tv/sites/stuff.tv/files/bang-and-olufsen-beovision-avant-07_0.jpg?1399702238" /> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-image-4"> <div class="field-label">Image #4:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_image_4" width="1200" height="900" title="The Bang &amp; Olufsen BeoVision Avant, just hangin&#039;" alt="Bang &amp; Olufsen BeoVision Avant" src="http://images.cdn.stuff.tv/sites/stuff.tv/files/bang-and-olufsen-beovision-avant-08.jpg?1399702238" /> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-make-full-width"> <div class="field-label">Make full width:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Do not make full width </div> </div> </div> </fieldset> </fieldset> <fieldset class="content-multigroup-group-carousel-item"><legend>Carousel Extras</legend><fieldset class="content-multigroup-wrapper content-multigroup-0"><div class="field field-type-text field-field-carousel-item-title"> <div class="field-label">Carousel item title:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Give us a twirl </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-carousel-item-standfirst"> <div class="field-label">Carousel item standfirst:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> B&amp;O Avant 4K TV follows you around the room </div> </div> </div> </fieldset> </fieldset> http://www.stuff.tv/bo/bang-olufsen-beovision-avant-4k-tv-follows-you-around-room/news#comments 4K B&O BeoVision Avant Hot Stuff TVs Thu, 08 May 2014 12:28:56 +0000 Stephen Graves 1436764 at http://www.stuff.tv Sony Bravia X9 series 4K TV http://www.stuff.tv/kd-55x9005b/sony-x9000b-4k-tv/review <div class="field field-type-text field-field-standfirst"> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Everything you need to know about Sony&#039;s imminent flagship 4K TV series </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-enable-hero"> <div class="field-label">Enable hero:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Enable full width image </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-main-image"> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_main_image" width="1200" height="900" title="The 65in Sony KD-65X9005B 4K TV" alt="Sony KD-65X9005B 4K TV" src="http://images.cdn.stuff.tv/sites/stuff.tv/files/images/news/Sony-X9000B-4K-TV.jpg?1399479144" /> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-userreference field-field-byline"> <div class="field-label">Byline:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <a href="/users/tom-parsons" title="View user profile.">Tom Parsons</a> </div> </div> </div> <p>If 2013 was the year that 4K took its first tentative steps into the TV arena, 2014 is the year it bursts from a cake with tassels on its nipples and a full song and dance routine.</p> <p>That&#39;s thanks to standards being finalised, formats being settled upon and service providers (most notably Netflix) committing to recording and broadcasting in Ultra High Definition 4K. Most are thin at the edges but have a protrusion at the back that contains the electronics, while others have a separate box for all that gubbins that you hide somewhere else. The Sony X9B range has no time for any such tricks, instead making a virtue of the fact that it&#39;s a little bit thick.</p> <p>Its distinctive wedge profile not only means that there&#39;s plenty of room towards the bottom for all of the electronics, but also enables it to have much bigger speakers than those you&#39;ll find on almost any other television.</p> <p>Last year&#39;s model (<a href="http://www.stuff.tv/sony/sony-kd-55x9005a/review" target="_blank">we reviewed the KD-55X9005A</a>) already had large front-facing speakers flanking the display, but now there&#39;s a new audio circuit and more advanced materials for the drivers, making everything a bit punchier and more detailed.</p> <p>What&#39;s more, that extra cabinet volume at the bottom means the bass driver also now fires forwards (the old model&#39;s subwoofer reflected off the wall behind). Having heard both old and new models side-by-side, we can confirm the 2014 set sounds significantly bigger and weightier.</p> <p>If it&#39;s still not bassy enough for you there&#39;s an optional wireless subwoofer available, which in combination with the X9B&#39;s ClearAudio+ virtual surround sound should amount to quite the cinematic experience.</p> <p><strong>READ MORE: <a href="http://www.stuff.tv/tvs/top-ten" target="_blank">The 10 Best TVs in the World right now</a></strong></p> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-hcmvideofield-video field-field-brightcove-video"> <div class="field-label">Video ID/URL:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <div class="messages warning">This video is not currently supported.</div> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-image"> <div class="field-label">Image #1:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_image" width="1200" height="900" title="The thicker bottom means more room for better speakers" alt="Sony KD-65X9005B 4K TV" src="http://images.cdn.stuff.tv/sites/stuff.tv/files/kd-65x9005b_4K-TV-2.jpg?1399479144" /> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-make-full-width"> <div class="field-label">Make full width:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Do not make full width </div> </div> </div> </fieldset> <fieldset class="content-multigroup-wrapper content-multigroup-1"><div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-section-paginate"> <div class="field-label">Paginate on this section:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Don't paginate </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-title"> <div class="field-label">Title:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Tech: the best of Sony </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-body"> <div class="field-label">Body:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <p>As a flagship 4K TV series it&#39;s little wonder that the X9B series is packed with the very best technology Sony currently has to offer.</p> <p>First up is X-tended Dynamic Range (XDR for short), which is designed to not only give you super-bright whites and absolute blacks, but also handle every small gradation in-between. Having briefly seen it in action we think Sony might be on to something. Every single percentage change in light was reflected on the Sony: even the difference between 1% brightness and absolute black was visible, whereas the rival sets we saw were pitch black from around 7% down. It makes for a more natural picture, and one in which you can still see all the detail at the extremes of the spectrum.</p> <p>Then there&#39;s the Triluminous Display, designed to produce a wider and more vibrant colour palette. Again, having seen this briefly in action we can definitely say it achieves that goal, but to our eyes a couple of colours - particularly red - looked just a little too bright and too vivid. There should be settings to tweak Triluminous onboard, though, so we&#39;re not too worried about that being a problem when we come to our review.</p> <p>Finally there&#39;s the 4K X-Reality Pro engine controlling everything behind the scenes. This new version of Sony&#39;s picture-processing tech analyses the image and compares it to an internal database to enhance individual elements of the picture. For example, it will recognise an explosion and boost brightness and colours in that area to give it maximum impact. This even works with games, and according to the engineers doesn&#39;t create any lag.</p> <p>The 4K X-Reality Pro engine also handles upscaling of lower resolution sources, and you&#39;re still going to be watching those for a while yet. The idea is that while a 1080p Blu-ray might not look quite as good as 4K on the X9B range, it should look better than it does on any standard full HD TV. A brief play of the <em>Elysium</em> Blu-ray certainly went some way to convincing us.</p> <p><strong>READ MORE: <a href="http://www.stuff.tv/sony/ces-2014/eyes-sonys-amazing-4k-short-throw-projector/news" target="_blank">Eyes-on with Sony&#39;s amazing Ultra Short-Throw Projector</a></strong></p> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-image"> <div class="field-label">Image #1:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_image" width="1200" height="900" title="Triluminous Display provides a wider, more vibrant colour palette" alt="Sony KD-65X9005B 4K TV" src="http://images.cdn.stuff.tv/sites/stuff.tv/files/Sony-X9000B-4K-TV-2.jpg?1399479144" /> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-make-full-width"> <div class="field-label">Make full width:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Do not make full width </div> </div> </div> </fieldset> <fieldset class="content-multigroup-wrapper content-multigroup-2"><div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-section-paginate"> <div class="field-label">Paginate on this section:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Don't paginate </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-title"> <div class="field-label">Title:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Smarter than the average telly </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-body"> <div class="field-label">Body:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <p>Sony&rsquo;s overhauled its UI for these new TVs, and it seems the XrossMediaBar is finally gone. Now you get One Flick Entertainment, which is designed to work hand-in-hand with the bundled One-Flick Remote.</p> <p>As you might imagine from the name, a single flick upwards on the remote&#39;s touch sensor brings in a pop-up menu of features and content, all of which are overlaid on the bottom of whatever you&rsquo;re watching. Swiping left and right allows you to choose the content you want, and the Sony even brings in listings from Sky and can control your box if you&rsquo;ve got one connected. It&rsquo;s all very seamless and pretty quick, judging by what we&rsquo;ve seen so far.</p> <p>Clearly Netflix is going to be popular with 4K TV buyers, seeing as it&rsquo;s already enabled some 4K streams. The Sony is perfectly able to access these thanks to full support for the HEVC codec.&nbsp;Got one of last year&#39;s 4K Sonys? You&rsquo;re going to need to add the &pound;350 FMP-X5 to get HEVC support. Well, you did know early adoption was risky, didn&#39;t you?</p> <p>Social Viewing is another interesting new feature of the X9B series. The first part of it is the Twitter integration &ndash; activate it while watching a sporting event, for example, and the TV will scroll any tweets that contain the automatically selected keywords. Want to change those keywords? Just write your own into the feature&rsquo;s menus. Speaking personally, the opportunity to have <a href="https://twitter.com/sniffpetrol" target="_blank">Sniff Petrol</a>&#39;s ramblings scrolling across the bottom of the screen while watching F1 is one not to be missed.</p> <p>The other side of Social Viewing is Skype, but we&rsquo;re a bit more dubious about this. Being able to Skype directly from your TV is great (and enabled via an almost-invisible camera built into the top-left bezel of the X9B range), but doing so in a window while watching a football game or similar? Not so much. Sony says it&rsquo;s trying to recreate the feeling of watching the game with your friends, but who spends the game actually looking at their mates?</p> <p>Talking of Skype, though, the camera here has facial recognition and tracks you if you move around the room - although in our brief demo that seemed a little less reliable than the similar tech used in <a href="http://www.stuff.tv/microsoft/microsoft-xbox-one/review" target="_blank">Kinect on Xbox One</a>. We&rsquo;ll give you our definitive verdict once we&#39;ve tested it in full.</p> <p><strong>READ MORE: <a href="http://www.stuff.tv/sky/project-ethan-revamp-will-transform-sky-s-set-top-box-service/news" target="_blank">Sky&#39;s supercharged Project Ethan box will support 4K, cloud recordings and more</a></strong></p> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-image"> <div class="field-label">Image #1:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_image" width="1200" height="900" title="Sony&#039;s 4K TV adverts - unsurprisingly filmed in 4K" alt="Sony KD-65X9005B 4K TV" src="http://images.cdn.stuff.tv/sites/stuff.tv/files/Sony-4K-Vulcano.jpg?1399479144" /> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-image-2"> <div class="field-label">Image #2:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_image_2" width="1200" height="900" title="The Skype camera is almost invisible in the bezel" alt="Sony KD-65X9005B 4K TV" src="http://images.cdn.stuff.tv/sites/stuff.tv/files/Sony-X9000B-4K-TV-3.jpg?1399479144" /> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-make-full-width"> <div class="field-label">Make full width:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Do not make full width </div> </div> </div> </fieldset> <fieldset class="content-multigroup-wrapper content-multigroup-3"><div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-section-paginate"> <div class="field-label">Paginate on this section:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Don't paginate </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-title"> <div class="field-label">Title:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Sizes, prices and release dates </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-body"> <div class="field-label">Body:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <p>The X9B series is available in three sizes: 55in (KD-55X9005B), 65in (KD-65X9005B) and 79in (KD-79X9005B).
