So you can map your house, furniture and all, simply by walking around it. Bingo - no more measuring up before going shopping for a new wardrobe.&nbsp;Or so you can avoid getting lost next time you go to the hospital - you&#39;ll have instant access to a 3D plan of its labyrinthine corridors. Or so you can easily find the &#39;unhealthy snacks&#39; section in your local megamart. Or so can play amazing augmented reality games. Or so that the visually impaired can receive extra help in getting around.</p> <p>In fact, as with most Google projects, the ways in which Tango could prove useful are only limited by your imagination. Which, on the face of it, should be a far harder project.&nbsp;</p> <p>The unforeseen benefits of Google&#39;s mapping odyssey include everything from being able to visit holiday destinations before booking them, to enabling home delivery in places where post offices and street names don&#39;t exist.&nbsp;</p> <p>If Project Tango works - and we&#39;ve no reason to suspect it won&#39;t - it could prove every bit as revolutionary as Maps or Street View. Even the faux brushed-metal banding which surrounds the body does a decent job of fooling both fingers and eyes.</p> <p>No, it doesn&#39;t match the build quality of the iPad Air or Xperia Tablet Z2, but it&#39;s a solid step forward nonetheless.</p> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-hcmvideofield-video field-field-brightcove-video"> <div class="field-label">Video ID/URL:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <div class="messages warning">This video is not currently supported.</div> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-image"> <div class="field-label">Image #1:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_image" width="1200" height="900" title="Size zero" alt="Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 review" src="http://images.cdn.stuff.tv/sites/stuff.tv/files/DSCN0008_0.JPG?1406542411" /> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-image-2"> <div class="field-label">Image #2:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_image_2" width="1200" height="900" title="View from the rear" alt="Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 review" src="http://images.cdn.stuff.tv/sites/stuff.tv/files/DSCN0002_0.JPG?1406542411" /> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-make-full-width"> <div class="field-label">Make full width:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Do not make full width </div> </div> </div> </fieldset> <fieldset class="content-multigroup-wrapper content-multigroup-1"><div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-section-paginate"> <div class="field-label">Paginate on this section:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Don't paginate </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-body"> <div class="field-label">Body:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <p>Otherwise, there&rsquo;s not a lot to write home about. They&#39;ll also land in both LTE and Wi-Fi-only models, with the former model allowing you to make phone calls with it, if you really want to.</p> <p>An 8MP camera graces the rear, while a 2.1MP camera on the front should take care of selfies.&nbsp;</p> <p>On the software side, the Galaxy Tab S is running Samsung&#39;s TouchWiz UI, skinned over Android KitKat 4.4. Some useful software tweaks are thrown in too, including multi-view which lets you interact with two apps simultaneously over a split screen view.</p> <p>SideSync 3.0 also lets you play games installed on your compatible Galaxy smartphone on the larger tablet screen. It&#39;ll allow you to answer calls on your tablet, even if your phone&#39;s in another room. Sadly, this feature is limited to Galaxy devices only.</p> <p>The 8.4in Tab S packs in a 4900mAh battery, while the larger 10.5in has a 7900mAh one to keep it chugging along, and both tablets also feature a fingerprint-scanning home button with PayPal and multi-user support - a first for a Samsung tablet.</p> <p>There&#39;s no word on UK pricing for either model, but the 10.5in and 8.4in Galaxy Tab S models will be on sale in the US for US$400 and and US$500. The Wi-Fi version will go on sale in July, with the LTE model set to hit shelves shortly after.</p> <p><strong>Update 26/06/14:&nbsp;</strong>Samsung has officially revealed that the 10.5in and 8.4in Galaxy Tab S models will be available from 4 July for &pound;400 and &pound;320 respectively, matching the exact price of the iPad Air and iPad Mini with Retina Display.</p> <p>Pricing and and a release date for the LTE versions have yet to be revealed.</p> <p><strong>READ MORE: <a href="http://www.stuff.tv/tablets/top-ten" target="_blank">These are the top 10 best tablets in the world</a></strong></p> <p><iframe frameborder="0" height="180" src="http://pages.haymarket.com/stuff_signup/enews_embed" width="300"></iframe></p> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-hcmvideofield-video field-field-brightcove-video"> <div class="field-label">Video ID/URL:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <div class="messages warning">This video is not currently supported.</div> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-image"> <div class="field-label">Image #1:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_image" width="1200" height="900" title="Back shot" alt="Samsung Galaxy Tab S arrives with a screen that&#039;s exploding with colour" src="http://images.cdn.stuff.tv/sites/stuff.tv/files/Galaxy-Tab-S-Bluetooth-Keyboard_3.jpg?1404445452" /> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-make-full-width"> <div class="field-label">Make full width:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Do not make full width </div> </div> </div> </fieldset> </fieldset> <p><a href="http://www.stuff.tv/samsung/samsung-galaxy-tab-s-arrives-screen-thats-exploding-colour/news" target="_blank">read more</a></p> http://www.stuff.tv/samsung/samsung-galaxy-tab-s-arrives-screen-thats-exploding-colour/news#comments Android Samsung Tablets Wed, 25 Jun 2014 13:32:43 +0000 Esat Dedezade 1438993 at http://www.stuff.tv Here’s yet more evidence for a Touch ID sensor on Apple’s new iPad Air http://www.stuff.tv/apple/here-s-yet-more-evidence-touch-id-sensor-apple-s-new-ipad-air/news <div class="field field-type-text field-field-standfirst"> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Another early spy snap of the next full-size iPad suggests it’s getting an extra touch of class </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-main-image"> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_main_image" width="1200" height="900" title="Here’s yet more evidence for Touch ID sensor on Apple’s new iPad Air" alt="Here’s yet more evidence for Touch ID sensor on Apple’s new iPad Air" src="http://images.cdn.stuff.tv/sites/stuff.tv/files/images/news/white-ipad-air-touch-id.jpg?1403661404" /> </div> </div> </div> <p>Are the next updates to the iPad Air and iPad Mini getting a Touch ID fingerprint sensor?
