Valve Steam Box looks set for Monday reveal

Teaser site for the Linux-powered PC gaming console appears, complete with countdown clock

It seems like Valve is set to reveal its long-awaited Steam Box console on Monday evening.

The company has set up a teaser page for the Linux-powered PC gaming console. And the countdown clock finishes at 6pm on Monday 23rd September.

The page, entitled “The Steam Universe is Expanding in 2014” is light on detail, but does mention the previous release of Steam Big Picture mode and saying, “we’ve been working on even more ways to connect the dots for customers who want Steam in the living-room”.

Triple whammy?

The Steam Box is thought to be a compact Linux-based console able to play PC games purchased over Steam, Valve’s digital games store.

Valve also told games journalist Geoff Keighley that it would be making no fewer than three announcements next week, which ties in with the three circles on the teaser site. It could well be the case that there will not be one, but three different Steam Boxes, revealed. Colour us excited.
