Sony Tablet S available on September 16

Will the Japanese tech giant’s latest foray in to the tablet market be enough to lead you away from the Apple tree?

If you fancy a new Android tablet with a dash of Japanese style and a sprinkle of Honeycomb then you’re in luck as the 16GB Wi-Fi Sony Tablet S will be available in a mere 10 days time from Dixons. Its 32GB counterpart is listed for September 23 and the 16GB 3G model currently has no date listed for the time being.

Unlike its book-like sibling the Tablet P, the S features a 9.4in 1280 x 768px TruBlack screen, which should more than satisfy any on-the-go entertainment demands. Also blazing up the spec sheet is an NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual-core processor and front and rear HD cameras, all tied together by the Android 3.1 Honeycomb OS.

As for the bank balance damage – the 16GB and 32GB Wi-Fi models will set you back £400 and £500 respectively, whilst the 16GB Wi-fi/3G model will also cost £500, placing it square in line with Apple’s market-dominating alternative.
