Pocket-friendly 4.3in Sony Xperia Z1 Mini packs a mighty punch

But it's only available in Japan. sadface.jpg

The Sony Xperia Z1 is a cracking smartphone with a spec sheet that should have any self-respecting Android fan drooling, but it's not for everyone.

Some people just can't navigate 5in screens with one hand easily, and it's a problem that arises in plenty of the Xperia Z1's competitors, including the Samsung Galaxy S4 and HTC One.

Both Samsung and HTC have released miniature versions of their flagship devices – the Galaxy S4 Mini and HTC One Mini - and while both are decent handsets in their own right, they've taken a cut in the specs department.

The Xperia Z1 Mini (or Z1 f) on the other hand retains all the juicy specs of its ultra powerful big brother, with the exception of a smaller 4.3in 720p display.

That means it offers all the power of Qualcomm's mighty quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, along with 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, 2,300mAh battery and that all important 20.1MP rear camera.

Sadly the Xperia Z1 Mini will only be released in Japan for the time being, with no promises being made for a UK release. You grab the pitchforks, and we'll fire up the torches...
