Sky Go will also be coming to the PlayStation 3 (which already features a Now TV app).</p> <p>For the uninitiated, Sky Go is a service for Sky&rsquo;s satellite customers, allowing them to watch on-demand and live content in line with whatever subscription package they already pay for. Included are all six Sky Sports channels, 11 movie channels, Sky Atlantic, Eurosport and more.</p> <div class="field field-type-userreference field-field-byline"> <div class="field-label">Byline:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <a href="/users/sam-kieldsen" title="View user profile.">Sam Kieldsen</a> </div> </div> </div> <fieldset class="content-multigroup-group-sections"><legend>News Section</legend><fieldset class="content-multigroup-wrapper content-multigroup-0"><div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-section-paginate"> <div class="field-label">Paginate on this section:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Don't paginate </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-body"> <div class="field-label">Body:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <p>Now TV is a contract-free streaming TV service delivering instant access to hundreds of movies on demand as well as pay-as-you-go access to live Sky Sports and shows including <em>Game of Thrones</em>, <em>Mad Men</em> and <em>True Detective</em>.</p> <p>The move strikes us a win-win for both companies. It broadens Sky&rsquo;s second screen reach and Now TV&rsquo;s availability, at the same time as making the PS4 a more appealing entertainment device. The apps will appear on the PS4 and PS3 some time this summer.</p> <p><strong>READ MORE: <a href="http://www.stuff.tv/now-tv/skys-now-tv-demand-service-launches-xbox/news">Sky&rsquo;s Now TV on-demand service launches on Xbox</a></strong></p> <p><iframe frameborder="0" height="180" src="http://pages.haymarket.com/stuff_signup/enews_embed" width="300"></iframe></p> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-hcmvideofield-video field-field-brightcove-video"> <div class="field-label">Video ID/URL:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <div class="messages warning">This video is not currently supported.</div> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-image"> <div class="field-label">Image #1:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_image" width="1200" height="900" title="Now TV is already available on the Xbox 360 and coming to the Xbox One " alt="Now TV is already available on the Xbox 360 and coming to the Xbox One " src="http://images.cdn.stuff.tv/sites/stuff.tv/files/now-tv-on-xbox.jpg?1399052434" /> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-make-full-width"> <div class="field-label">Make full width:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Do not make full width </div> </div> </div> </fieldset> </fieldset> <fieldset class="content-multigroup-group-carousel-item"><legend>Carousel Extras</legend><fieldset class="content-multigroup-wrapper content-multigroup-0"><div class="field field-type-text field-field-carousel-item-title"> <div class="field-label">Carousel item title:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> PlayStation 4 gets Sky Go and Now TV </div> </div> </div> </fieldset> </fieldset> <p><a href="http://www.stuff.tv/now-tv/sky-go-and-now-tv-heading-playstation-4-summer/news" target="_blank">read more</a></p> Now TV PlayStation 3 PlayStation 4 Sky Sony Thu, 01 May 2014 08:52:54 +0000 Sam Kieldsen 1436450 at http://www.stuff.tv Netflix vs Lovefilm vs Now TV: Which video streaming service is right for you? http://www.stuff.tv/lovefilm/which-video-streaming-service-right-you/feature <div class="field field-type-text field-field-standfirst"> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> These five services are all vying for your credit card details – but what are the differences between them? </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-main-image"> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_main_image" width="1200" height="900" title="Which video streaming service is right for you?" alt="Which video streaming service is right for you?" src="http://images.cdn.stuff.tv/sites/stuff.tv/files/images/news/vikings-on-ipad.jpg?1375777531" /> </div> </div> </div> <p>The UK now has no fewer than five major video streaming services to choose from, each delivering something a little different. Mixing live sport with on-demand movies, it’s pricier than Netflix and LoveFilm but boasts a better selection of films – and gets movies, especially big-name blockbusters, far earlier than its main rivals (a year, in fact).</p> <p>Its sports service is totally unique in the world of streaming, too: for a tenner, you can access all Sky Sports channels for 24 hours. That might not seem like a particularly good deal at first, but it’ll save you plenty of money if you’re only interested in the occasional football match, cricket test or grand prix. Season 3 of Game of Thrones, for instance, can be bought in its entirety for £17.99, or £23.99 in HD. And for the most part they’re great: House of Cards, Orange Is the New Black and the resurrected Arrested Development are all as good as anything you’d find on the networks. Starting from August 2013, Internet-connected LG tellies (and some Blu-ray players) will be able to access live Sky Sports and on-demand movies from the service.</p> <p>LG has an exclusive on this, for TVs at least, for at least 12 months, and anyone buying new LG kit will get three months free access to Now TV’s movie library, plus three 24-hour passes for live Sky Sports.</p> <div class="field field-type-userreference field-field-byline"> <div class="field-label">Byline:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <a href="/users/sam-kieldsen" title="View user profile.">Sam Kieldsen</a> </div> </div> </div> <fieldset class="content-multigroup-group-sections"><legend>News Section</legend><fieldset class="content-multigroup-wrapper content-multigroup-0"><div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-section-paginate"> <div class="field-label">Paginate on this section:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Don't paginate </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-title"> <div class="field-label">Title:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Is Sky tempting people away from satellite? </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-body"> <div class="field-label">Body:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <p>It all begs the question: is Sky in danger of tempting people away from its more lucrative satellite subscription model and into a pay-as-you-go future? Now TV is a cheap alternative to regular Sky: unlimited movie streaming costs £8.99 a month for the first three months, rising to £15 thereafter (you also get 30 days free at the beginning); a day of access to Sky Sports costs £9.99, which might seem pricy but makes sense if, say, you’re only interested in a particular football team – it’s probably cheaper than going to the pub to see a match, especially if a few people are watching.</p> <p>Is that a model that’ll take money out of Sky’s pockets? Our hunch is that it isn’t, not in the long run at least. Sky has to adapt as more and more people become “cord-cutters”, moving away from traditional broadcast models and turning to Internet services like BBC iPlayer, Netflix, Lovefilm Instant and yes, Now TV for their televisual entertainment.</p> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-hcmvideofield-video field-field-brightcove-video"> <div class="field-label">Video ID/URL:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <div class="messages warning">This video is not currently supported.</div> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-image"> <div class="field-label">Image #1:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_image" width="1200" height="900" title="Now TV" alt="Now TV" src="http://images.cdn.stuff.tv/sites/stuff.tv/files/now-tv-logo.jpg?1374789364" /> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-image-2"> <div class="field-label">Image #2:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_image_2" width="1200" height="900" title="Now TV on Nexus 4" alt="Now TV on Nexus 4" src="http://images.cdn.stuff.tv/sites/stuff.tv/files/now-tv-nexus-4.jpg?1374789364" /> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-make-full-width"> <div class="field-label">Make full width:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Do not make full width </div> </div> </div> </fieldset> <fieldset class="content-multigroup-wrapper content-multigroup-1"><div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-section-paginate"> <div class="field-label">Paginate on this section:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Don't paginate </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-title"> <div class="field-label">Title:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Sky Sports without a subscription </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-body"> <div class="field-label">Body:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <p>Now TV’s movie model may be pricier than Netflix and Lovefilm, but it offers access to a far wider selection of blockbuster movies, and gets them earlier than either of its rivals.
