And why shouldn&rsquo;t it? So what does this latest one mean?</p> <p>It could point to an overhauled version of Siri, to be released as part of <a href="http://www.stuff.tv/sg/apple/ios-8/review" target="_blank">iOS 8</a>. However, the G Watch R also adds a photoplethysmography (PPG) sensor for heart rate monitoring, which could make it more appealing for the fitness-minded crowd.</p> <p>While the internals are mostly the same, this is clearly a much different-looking watch. Beyond the unfettered circular display, it&rsquo;s also very visually distinct from the Moto 360, offering more a traditional sport watch aesthetic as opposed to Motorola&rsquo;s ultra-minimal approach. It features a black stainless steel frame and a 22mm leather strap, to boot.</p> <p>We&rsquo;ll surely find out more next week, as the G Watch R will be shown at LG&rsquo;s booth at IFA, which kicks off on 5 September in Berlin. It&rsquo;s IP67 rated for dust and water resistance, as well.</p> <p>While the watch doesn&rsquo;t require use of a smartphone, it can still be paired with a device for call and message forwarding, with Samsung claiming that it&rsquo;ll be easy to swap between 3G and Bluetooth connections as desired.</p> <p>Samsung&rsquo;s Gear S will be available in October and quite likely on display at IFA next week. No word yet on pricing, but beyond the watch itself, we can&rsquo;t help but wonder how much it&rsquo;ll cost to provide service for such a device on top of your monthly phone bill. Plus, a smaller prism would mean that it becomes more discrete on your face instead of sticking out like a sore thumb.</p> <p>Regardless of the change, the pair of smart eyewear will still be bulkier than a pair of regular glasses, especially the sides. That&rsquo;s because Google will most likely be packing its computing components, such as the memory and processor, at this end.</p> <p>Until Google actually takes the wraps off the revamped Glass, there&rsquo;s no telling if this patent will translate from paper to reality.
