Despite the pixel size, the new T4KA7 is still small enough to fit into newer, thinner phones allowing for the creation of camera modules with a z-heigh of 6mm or less.</p> <p>Only recently Toshiba also announced 8 MP and 13 MP cameras back-side CIS sensors that allow high-performance while using less power. T4KA7 sets itself apart by using high-speed circuit technology with a 22 fps frame rate, 83 per cent better than Toshiba&#39;s last 20 MP sensor.</p> <div class="field field-type-userreference field-field-byline"> <div class="field-label">Byline:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <a href="/sg/users/erna-mahyuni" title="View user profile.">Erna Mahyuni</a> </div> </div> </div> <fieldset class="content-multigroup-group-sections"><legend>News Section</legend><fieldset class="content-multigroup-wrapper content-multigroup-0"><div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-section-paginate"> <div class="field-label">Paginate on this section:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Don't paginate </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-title"> <div class="field-label">Title:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> A lot of megapixels in a really tiny space </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-body"> <div class="field-label">Body:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <p>How many pixels are we looking at? The smaller 8 MP T4KA3 supports 720p resolution while still supporting 240 fps HD video capture.</p> <p>Back to the 20 MP T4KA7: Don&#39;t expect to see it on smartphones just as yet. Sample shipments have just gone out, likely for testing purposes, each sample priced at US$20 (S$25). Mass production is at the moment scheduled for February 2015. Seeing that the sensor isn&#39;t exorbitantly priced, there&#39;s a good chance we could be seeing more of them in phones next year.</p> <p><strong>READ MORE:</strong> <a href="http://www.stuff.tv/sg/smartphones">Phones, phones, phones</a></p> <p>[Source: <a href="http://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/toshiba-unveils-20-megapixel-cmos-image-sensor-for-high-end-smartphones-and-mobile-handsets-275112781.html">Toshiba</a>]</p> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-hcmvideofield-video field-field-brightcove-video"> <div class="field-label">Video ID/URL:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <div class="messages warning">This video is not currently supported.</div> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-image"> <div class="field-label">Image #1:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_image" width="567" height="425" title="Toshiba&#039;s new 20 MP cameras are made for super thin phones" alt="Toshiba&#039;s new 20 MP cameras are made for super thin phones" src="/sites/stuff.tv/files/1080p.jpg" /> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-make-full-width"> <div class="field-label">Make full width:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Do not make full width </div> </div> </div> </fieldset> </fieldset> http://www.stuff.tv/sg/toshiba/toshibas-new-20-mp-cameras-are-made-super-thin-phones/news#comments Cameras Smartphones Toshiba Tue, 16 Sep 2014 05:38:09 +0000 Erna Mahyuni 1447762 at http://www.stuff.tv Toshiba's new laptops have Skullcandy’s audio and 4K display quality http://www.stuff.tv/sg/toshiba-new-laptops-have-skullcandy-s-audio-and-4k-display-quality/news <div class="field field-type-text field-field-standfirst"> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Toshiba pimps up its latest P and L series for a better sound and viewing system </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-main-image"> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_main_image" width="567" height="425" title="Toshiba new laptops have Skullcandy’s audio and 4K-display quality " alt="Toshiba new laptops have Skullcandy’s audio and 4K-display quality " src="/sites/stuff.tv/files/images/news/photo%20%2829%29.JPG" /> </div> </div> </div> <p>Toshiba&rsquo;s integrating entertainment features into its latest laptops and making some big, bold moves to beat the pack and stand out.</p> <p>It&rsquo;s added to its L series line-up the 14in Satellite L40 and the 15.6in Satellite L50/L50D, as well as spruced up its P series with the new Satellite P50.
