Going by the looks of it, these upgrades could come as soon as next quarter or Q1 next year.&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>READ MORE:</strong> <a href="http://www.stuff.tv/sg/apple/app-makers-iphone-6-ios-8-and-apple-watch/feature">iPhone 6, iOS 8 and Apple Watch, how your apps will evolve&nbsp;</a></p> <p>[Source: <a href="http://9to5mac.com/2014/09/29/apple-developing-ios-8-1-8-2-8-3-in-shift-for-2015-launches/" target="_blank">9to5Mac</a>] </p> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-hcmvideofield-video field-field-brightcove-video"> <div class="field-label">Video ID/URL:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <div class="messages warning">This video is not currently supported.</div> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-make-full-width"> <div class="field-label">Make full width:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Do not make full width </div> </div> </div> </fieldset> </fieldset> <p><a href="http://www.stuff.tv/sg/apple/apple-s-already-working-major-future-ios-updates/news" target="_blank">read more</a></p> http://www.stuff.tv/sg/apple/apple-s-already-working-major-future-ios-updates/news#comments Apple iOS Smartphones Tablets Tue, 30 Sep 2014 04:46:36 +0000 Hafizah Osman 1448897 at http://www.stuff.tv Google Nexus 6 http://www.stuff.tv/sg/google/google-nexus-6/review <div class="field field-type-text field-field-standfirst"> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> UPDATE 26/09/14: A leaked shot of a super-sized Moto X-like device could be the 6in Nexus 6 </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-enable-hero"> <div class="field-label">Enable hero:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Enable full width image </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-main-image"> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_main_image" width="1200" height="900" title="Google&#039;s Nexus 5 in all its glory" alt="Google Nexus 6 preview - the Nexus 5" src="http://images.cdn.stuff.tv/sites/stuff.tv/files/images/news/Google-nexus-6-review-nexus-5-001.jpg?1411788373" /> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-userreference field-field-byline"> <div class="field-label">Byline:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <a href="/sg/users/marc-mclaren" title="View user profile.">Marc McLaren</a> </div> </div> </div> <p>The <a href="http://www.stuff.tv/sg/android/google-nexus-5/review">Nexus 5</a>&nbsp;was a big favourite here in the Stuff office. The entire keyboard acts like a giant touchpad, letting you scroll through webpages and accurately drag around the cursor when making adjustments to text.</p> <p>Another neat trick is the on-screen symbols and number keys, which, on first impressions, look like they&#39;ll make typing a faster experience as you don&#39;t have to worry about switching between different keyboard modes.</p> <p>Predicted words also appear on the screen as you&#39;re typing, and you can flick up on the keyboard beneath one of the three words to make your selection.</p> <p>It works well, though we tend to ignore predictions most of the time when we type.</p> <p><strong>READ MORE: <a href="http://www.stuff.tv/sg/blackberry/blackberry-q10/review" target="_blank">BlackBerry Q10 review</a></strong></p> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-image"> <div class="field-label">Image #1:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_image" width="1200" height="900" title="Classic typing test" alt="BlackBerry Passport" src="http://images.cdn.stuff.tv/sites/stuff.tv/files/DSCN9960_0.JPG?1412071800" /> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-image-2"> <div class="field-label">Image #2:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_image_2" width="1200" height="900" title="Sexy accurate cursor movement" alt="BlackBerry Passport" src="http://images.cdn.stuff.tv/sites/stuff.tv/files/DSCN9959_1.JPG?1412071800" /> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-make-full-width"> <div class="field-label">Make full width:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Do not make full width </div> </div> </div> </fieldset> <fieldset class="content-multigroup-wrapper content-multigroup-2"><div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-section-paginate"> <div class="field-label">Paginate on this section:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Don't paginate </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-title"> <div class="field-label">Title:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Megapixel bump </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-body"> <div class="field-label">Body:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <p>The Passport has a 13MP OIS-equipped camera, which theoretically should result in better low-light shots. Here&rsquo;s why:</p> <div class="field field-type-userreference field-field-byline"> <div class="field-label">Byline:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <a href="/sg/users/craig-grannell" title="View user profile.">Craig Grannell</a> </div> </div> </div> <fieldset class="content-multigroup-group-sections"><fieldset class="content-multigroup-wrapper content-multigroup-0"><div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-section-paginate"> <div class="field-label">Paginate on this section:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Don't paginate </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-body"> <div class="field-label">Body:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <h2>1. It works with any microwave</h2> <p>You know full well if Apple was to introduce an exciting new method of charging, it would come with an exciting new charging accessory, with an exciting new price tag. You&rsquo;d be buying your Apple Hob for 50 quid, not flinging your iPhone into your microwave, next to the remains of yesterday&rsquo;s baked beans.</p> <h2>2. It wasn&#39;t unveiled at the Apple Event</h2> <p>In the unlikely scenario everyone in Cupertino got <em>really</em> drunk and actually did invent Apple Wave, it would have got at least a mention at the &nbsp;keynote. Tim Cook might have lifted a black cloth off of a microwave with a flourish, and showed the new iPhone 6 being charged in mere seconds. And then an underling could have made popcorn for everyone.</p> <h2>3. Apple&rsquo;s website doesn&rsquo;t mention it</h2> <p>Just a small point, but if you nip over to Apple&#39;s site, you&rsquo;ll discover that Apple Wave doesn&rsquo;t get a mention on the home page, iPhone page, iOS 8 page, or any other page. That&rsquo;s probably a good indication that Apple Wave isn&rsquo;t actually a real thing.</p> <h2>4. The advert does&rsquo;t look very Apple</h2> <p>The advert that&rsquo;s circulating looks like it was hacked together by someone without a great deal of understanding of how to make something Apple-like in terms of design, presumably on the basis that&rsquo;s exactly what it is. If something doesn&rsquo;t look like it was made by Apple, chances are it wasn&rsquo;t.</p> <h2>5. IT&rsquo;S ABOUT MICROWAVING YOUR PHONE</h2> <p>OK, so this is the big one. Wave is about microwaving your phone, which involves putting your phone into a microwave and <em>microwaving it</em>. Now, when we were kids, we were sternly warned not to even put a metal fork into the microwave by mistake, in case the entire house exploded, so at what point does someone think &ldquo;Hey, I think I&rsquo;ll just pop my extremely expensive new iPhone in there for a few minutes&rdquo; and reason that will be OK?</p> <p>On the plus side, we&rsquo;re pretty sure most of the images of fried iPhones on Twitter are faked, because the alternative is too horrible to contemplate.</p> <p><strong>READ MORE:&nbsp;<a href="http://www.stuff.tv/sg/apple/apple-doomed-company-goes-days-without-launching-new-product-line/feature" target="_blank">Apple doomed as company goes for days without launching a new product line</a></strong></p> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-hcmvideofield-video field-field-brightcove-video"> <div class="field-label">Video ID/URL:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <div class="messages warning">This video is not currently supported.</div> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-make-full-width"> <div class="field-label">Make full width:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Do not make full width </div> </div> </div> </fieldset> </fieldset> http://www.stuff.tv/sg/apple/top-5-ways-tell-apple-wave-iphone-6-microwave-charging-fake/feature#comments Apple iPhone 6 Smartphones Fri, 19 Sep 2014 15:51:25 +0000 Elissa Loi 1448242 at http://www.stuff.tv The Porsche Design BlackBerry P’9983 is expectedly sleek, expensive http://www.stuff.tv/sg/blackberry/porsche-design-blackberry-p-9983-expectedly-sleek-expensive/news <div class="field field-type-text field-field-standfirst"> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> New ultra-premium handset can simultaneously turn heads and strangle wallets </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-enable-hero"> <div class="field-label">Enable hero:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Enable full width image </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-main-image"> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_main_image" width="1200" height="900" title="Porsche Design BlackBerry P’9983" alt="Porsche Design BlackBerry P’9983" src="http://images.cdn.stuff.tv/sites/stuff.tv/files/images/news/blackberry-porsche-p9983-final.jpg?1411197089" /> </div> </div> </div> <p>If buying an exorbitantly overpriced smartphone makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside, then BlackBerry&rsquo;s latest collaboration with Porsche Design should set you right.</p> <div class="field field-type-userreference field-field-byline"> <div class="field-label">Byline:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <a href="/sg/users/andrew-hayward" title="View user profile.">Andrew Hayward</a> </div> </div> </div> <fieldset class="content-multigroup-group-sections"><legend>News Section</legend><fieldset class="content-multigroup-wrapper content-multigroup-0"><div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-section-paginate"> <div class="field-label">Paginate on this section:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Don't paginate </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-body"> <div class="field-label">Body:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <p>What we didn&rsquo;t know last month was just how much the latest Porsche BlackBerry would cost, but now that&rsquo;s clear: it&rsquo;s selling for &euro;1650, or about S$2662.</p> <p>Perhaps BlackBerry finally has some sense about this ultra-exclusive smartphone, which is due out in October.
