Samsung's new camera sensor to be a life saver for the shaky handed

You can say bye bye to blurry images in Sammy's next release of smartphone cameras

What's the big deal about this new 13 MP sensor? The optical image stabilisation is supposedly better than the anti-shake on most digital cameras available in the market.

Killing the pocket digital camera

Most digital cameras can correct angular errors up to about 0.7 degrees but Samsung's new sensor ups that to 1.5 degrees. The company also claims the new models have up to eight times better low-light performance compared to its current camera modules, while also consuming less power.

One thing that Samsung hasn't changed is the size of the camera module: 10.5 x 10.5 x 5.9mm, about the same size as its current smartphone cameras.

Samsung is targetting large-scale production of the new anti-shake module by the first half of 2014. At the rate camphones are improving, pocket digitals are going to be novelties.
