If night-time photography gets you going, the XZ-2 is a fine choice

Olympus has taken last year's excellent XZ-1 night-owl cam, melted it down and forged the bigger and pricier XZ-2 from the remains. Somehow. So was it worth the bloody, sweaty hours in the gadget labs? Yes, and no. A new 12MP sensor combined with the TruePic VI processing found in Olympus' OM-D E-M5 makes for cleaner snaps than those of its predescessor, and the super-fast f/1.8 Zuiko lens is excellent in low light.

There's a new 3in tilting touchscreen, the 35-point AF is a breeze, art filters are there if you want them and manual controls are on the lens ring. Its 1080p video is generally good too, though it does sometimes struggle to focus. But better images and more pocketable builds can be found for less cash.
