Think the Samsung Galaxy S5 breaks your piggy bank with its S$1068 retail price? Think again. Vertu’s £6,750 (S$14,187) Signature Touch will not only smash your piggy pool, it will also most likely burn a hole in your pocket and deplete most of your bank accounts.
But before your eyes pop out of their sockets, hear us out. The Signature Touch is actually meant to be a posh smartphone – it’s not bedazzled with diamond embellishments but its materials and features are considered top of the line by industry standards.
It’s made from handcrafted materials such as a mould from a single piece of grade 5 titanium, as well as a choice between hand-finished calf leather or lizard skin. We’re not sure anyone would like the slithery feel of lizard skin but it might rock some of your boats.
You can also rest assured that there won’t be a hairline scratch on your 4.7in smartphone since it’s guarded by an 118 carat 5.1in piece of sapphire crystal.
Is its inside just as pimped up?
On the inside, it’s the usual suspects. It runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 2.3GHz quad-core processor, has 64GB of internal memory, NFC functionality, Android 4.4 KitKat OS, and a 13MP camera. it also incorporates Dolby Digital Plus virtual surround sound from Bang & Olufsen, as well as Hasselblad certified imaging.
If you’re not already flabbergasted, there’s also a range of services available for it – including a 24-hour dedicated concierge available via email, chat or call, and a Vertu Life built-in app that gives you exclusive offer packages.
The Signature Touch will soon come in a spectrum of five colourways across eight product executions and an assortment of complimentary cases will soon be available in three designs.
If you're neither the faint of heart or empty of wallet, boutique stores across countries including the UK, US, and Singapore will carry it later this month. But remember, there’s a price to pay for the luxury, and it's a five-figure sum.
