It’s a match made in heaven we believe. Luxoticca, the guys that basically own some of the most stylish eyewear brands like Rayban, Oakley have teamed up with Goolge to come up with a range of Glass’ eyewear that’ll definitely look better than what’s currently available.
There really aren’t many details on the whole partnership but this G+ post by Google might point to Google Glass potential for wider distribution.
“Luxottica understands how to build, distribute and sell great products that their clients and consumers love – something we care deeply about at Glass, too. They’ll bring design and manufacturing expertise to the mix, and, together, we’ll bring even more Glass style choices to our Explorers. In addition, Luxottica’s retail and wholesale distribution channels will serve us well when we make Glass available to more people down the road.”
The partnership with Luxottica will really help Google get Glass out to a wider variety of audiences and with the former’s long tradition of classy and stylish eyewear, definitely give a bigger variety in terms of design as well.

Luxottica isn’t the first company Google has paired with for Glass designs. Their earlier pairing with Titanium showed us just what sort of designs we could expect in the future, albeit with only about 40 or so variations.

Not that Luxottica isn’t in the whole wearable tech arena either. As we’ve covered before, Oakley, a brand under their umbrella, has it’s own HUD goggles and though the details of the partnership are pretty vague at the moment, there are possibilities that Glass could be integrated into its development.
Let’s hope we’ll be seeing at least some concept design out from Luxottica pretty soon. And seriously Google, do speed up the roll out of Glass please.
