Sony Xperia C4 launches with front-facing flash for super-charged selfies

Now everyone in the entire bar will know you’re taking a picture of your face

Love them or hate them, it doesn’t look like selfies are going anywhere soon.

The Galaxy S6 and LG G4 have stepped up their front-facing camera games with 5MP and 8MP offerings respectively, and Sony’s latest mid-ranger, the Xperia C4, wants to one-up both of them with a 5MP selfie cam of its own.

While it can’t match the G4 for megapixels, it does offer a front-facing LED flash, which should be a formidable weapon against the selfie’s natural enemy – dim light.

The G4 helps light up your face by framing the camera’s on-screen viewfinder with a white background, but the C4’s dedicated flash should definitely provide the brightest selfies yet, while minimising noise.

You shouldn’t have any trouble seeing your snaps back on its 5.5in 1080p screen either, while a 13MP camera on the rear takes care of things that aren’t your face.

Inside you’ll find a 64-bit 1.7GHz MediaTek processor, 2GB of RAM, and Android 5.0 Lollipop.

Unlike its bigger brothers the Xperia Z3 and Japan-only Z4, the C4 isn’t waterproof, but it is “scratch resistant” and will be available in white, black, and green.

There’s no official UK price or release date as of yet, but we’ll keep you posted when more info comes in.
