Samsung confirms four new Galaxy PRO tablets, two with 12.2in screens

UPDATE: Samsung officially announces three Galaxy TabPRO and one Galaxy NotePRO model

The serial story-unearthers @evleaks are at it again: today the account tweeted images and spec details of four upcoming Samsung Galaxy tablets.

The new batch of tablets, which Samsung announced at its CES 2014 press conference today, includes three Samsung Galaxy TabPRO models (8.4in, 10.1in and 12.2in in size) and one Samsung Galaxy NotePRO (12.2in and supplied with an S-Pen stylus). All models run on Android 4.4 KitKat and offer 2560 x 1600 screens, 8MP front and 2MP rear cameras.

According to @evleaks, the Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 comes in two different configurations: an LTE-equipped model with quad-core Snapdragon 800 CPU and a Wi-Fi/3G model with eight-core Exynos 5 chip. Both models have 3GB of RAM, a 9500mAh battery and a choice of 32GB or 64GB of built-in storage.

The 12.2in and 10.1in Galaxy Tab Pros also come with the different processor configurations depending on connectivity. The 12.2in model has a 9500mAh battery, 3GB of RAM and 32GB/64GB of storage; the 10.1in tablet has an 8220mAh battery, 2GB of RAM and 16GB/32GB of storage; and the 8.4in model has a 4800mAh battery, 2GB of RAM and 16/32GB of storage.

Particularly interesting are the 12.2in models – two giant tablets at a time when most companies are moving in the opposite direction in terms of screen size.

We’ll update the story with more information after Samsung’s CES press conference.

UPDATE: Samsung has now officially launched the tablets and, as usual, EV Leaks was pretty much on the money. There are three Galaxy TabPRO models and one Galaxy NotePRO model, and the specs are precisely as detailed in the leak. There’ll also be a bunch of official accessories available including a keyboard cover, Bluetooth keyboard, USB LAN hub and "S Action Mouse".

Samsung has yet to reveal pricing and availability for any of the four tablets, but we’ll do our best to wheedle the details out of them ASAP. We’re also pretty sure that, as with the Galaxy S4 phone, the eight-core Exynos 5 chip won’t make it over to the UK versions of the NotePRO 12.2 and TabPRO 12.2 – but that has yet to be confirmed.
