LG could crash the fingerprint scanner party with the G3 and G Pro 2

Your digits will be scanning their way through even more devices this year

LG looks set to join the likes of the Apple iPhone 5s and HTC One Max by kitting out its high-end devices with fingerprint scanners.

According to ETNews, the LG G3 and LG G Pro 2 will be the first devices from the South Korean electronic giant to feature fingerprint reading tech.

The LG G2 was apparently meant to launch with its own scanner, before it was scrapped due to production issues and time constraints. That could also be another reason why the G2’s volume and power buttons are on its rear. It would be a good spot for a fingerprint scanner after all…

It’s unclear whether or not the tech will follow that of Apple’s excellent Touch ID Home button sensor, or the less enjoyable traditional sensor like the one found on the HTC One Max, but we’re hoping for the former.

We hope to hear more news at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona next month, so stay tuned.
