Philips has teamed up with flooring manufacturer Desso to create LED-laced carpets which can be programmed to display warnings, directions, messages and, well, presumably anything you want.
Examples of uses for the hi-tech carpet range from airport floors which direct passengers to their luggage to emergency situations in which the directions to the exits are clearly displayed.

There's no set release date or pricing information available at the moment, but the carpets are expected to make an appearance before the end of next year, which should give us just enough time to learn how to enjoy a glass of red wine without knocking its contents across the floor in spectacular fashion.
