HTC One M9(s) has mid-range specs and a sapphire glass camera

Is that an HTC M9 in your pocket or are you just... wait, it's not an M9?

It looks like HTC will be releasing a new variant of its One M9 flagship, called the One M9(s).

Awkward brackets aside, it doesn’t appear that anything much has changed in the design department, with he same rounded shape and unibody aluminium build.

The One M9(s) looks like it’ll keep the 5in 1080p screen, but its internal specs have been toned down slightly, instead sporting an octa-core MediaTek processor and 2GB of RAM.

There’s a 13MP rear camera however, and the lens itself is slathered in sapphire glass, which means that nothing short of a pointy diamond will be able to mark its surface.

The 16GB of internal storage is disappointing, but there is a microSD slot for flexibility, along with a 2840mAh battery.

A mysterious “sensor hub” is also mentioned on the outed spec sheet, though it’s hard to say exactly what this is at this time. It could be referring to a fingerprint reader, but we’ll just have to wait and see.

The One M9(s) is currently up for pre-order in Taiwan, where it’s on sale for around US$390. There’s no word on a UK price or release date as of yet.
