Grand Theft Auto V for PC lets you cut amazing films with ease using the Rockstar Editor

Will we play GTA5 on a third platform now? Yes, we believe we will

Following three delays over the past several months, Grand Theft Auto V will finally hit PC tomorrow, letting long-suffering computer gamers see what all the fuss is about. And a new feature could make it worth playing through all over again, even if you already enjoyed a console version.

Not only will the PC version support 4K resolution for gamers with incredible rigs (and monitors), but now the publisher has fully revealed the Rockstar Editor, a PC-exclusive feature that lets you chop together and heavily modify your own short films set in the world of Grand Theft Auto V.

Truly, there’s no better game to plunk a powerful video editor into: Grand Theft Auto V is massive and absolutely bursting with equally amusing and amazing things to see and do. And as the trailer below shows, you’ll be able to manually capture footage from the campaign and Grand Theft Auto Online at any time, or pull anything automatically retained from the last chunk of gameplay.

An array of camera tools, filters, and audio tweaks will help you put a personalized spin on the footage, but the biggest perk is certainly the Director Mode, which lets you take control of any character or animal for the game and shoot specialized clips to include in your film. Want to explore Los Santos as a four-legged feline or a soaring eagle? Done and done.

When you’re done, your films can be exported to YouTube or the Rockstar Games Social Club, and it’ll probably be no more than a day before we start seeing some spectacular footage rolling out of the gorgeous PC release. We can’t wait to see what the community cooks up here.

And if you’ve missed our previous coverage of Grand Theft Auto V, our Xbox One/PlayStation 4 review and Xbox 360/PlayStation 3 review both ought to convince you of its excellence. We’re absolutely tempted to give it another run on PC now, however.
