Despite the horribly unimaginative moniker, the iCam might just be what we need. It features a regular camera with a slot in the back where the display would ordinarily sit, in which you would slide your iPhone into. The idea banks on using your iPhone as the brain for uploading and editing while the camera acts as the all-capturing eye with its better photography hardware. Hey, doesn’t something like this already exist?

What happens if you combine the connective convenience of your smartphone with interchangeable lens camera quality? You get the WVIL (Wireless Viewfinder Interchangeable Lens). Its lens mount works with everything via adaptor; from the popular Canon EF mount to the more well-heeled Leica M mount. Technically, this concept by Antonio De Rosa is already taking shape, but technicality, schmechnicality. The social snapper crams built-in Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and instant photo printing into that familiar Instagram logo-shaped body. Polaroid has since put its instant photo clout behind it and Socialmatic will pack 14MP and churn out 2x3” full colour images when we finally meet it in the flash.
