HTC’s doubling your Google Drive storage

The One (M8) and One Max have qualified for the 100GB upgrade

New owners of high-end and mid-range HTC smartphones, listen up; HTC’s making a move that will see you with additional storage on Google Drive.

If you haven’t figured it out yet, what HTC's gone and done is double your Google Drive storage.

As such, moving forward, you will get bumped up to 100GB (from the former 50GB) worth of Google Drive space for you to save more of your pictures, or documents. But it’s worth taking note that the rollout doesn’t cater to all HTC smartphone users.

This list of approved devices includes the HTC One (M8), HTC Desire 816, Desire 610, and the HTC One Max. So if you’ve been planning on getting some of these newer devices, you’ll be in luck.

2013 models get something too...

And users of the 2013 models don’t get left behind. Although you won’t get the 100GB of storage space like the smartphones above do, owners of the HTC One (M7), HTC Butterfly S, HTC Desire 601 and HTC One Mini will get 25MB of free Google Drive upon updating to its Sense 5+ or Sense 6 user interface.

The additional storage will be available to you for two years from the date you make the redemption, which has to be done by 1 January 2016. After the offer ends, all the files you’ve uploaded will remain on the drive for your perusal, but you won’t be able to add more if you’re over the quota unless you purchase more storage.

If you’re one of those HTC device lovers that own more than one unit, it’s possible for you to redeem the 100GB offer on an eligible device and the 25GB offer on the other with the same Google Account. Media hoarders, HTC devices just got all that more attractive eh?
