Clearer photos of iPhone 6 parts hint at a larger screen are a fake-out

UPDATED 12/02/14: Clearly, everyone, including us, got too excited and failed to notice that it's a render by Martin Hajek

Somebody’s going to get hurt real bad with these leaked photos of the rumoured iPhone 6.

Twitter user @mornray886 left a few not-so-cryptic tweets for Apple-friendly websites yesterday, sharing this and more images of a purported iPhone 6 case.

Australian writer Sonny Dickson, who usually receives iPhone and iPad components before the iDevices are unveiled, got his hands on these photos too and confirms with MacRumours that the photos originated from China. And who makes Apple’s iPhones? Foxconn, based in China. Up till now, the source sounds somewhat legit.

According to MacRumours, the parts look to be 2.6 inches wide while the iPhone 5s measures 2.31 inches. This, along with an earlier leak about an incredibly thin iPhone 6 case, is pointing towards a 2014 iPhone equipped with a larger screen.

Surely, there’s something to go on with all the leaks from China. But the usual disclaimer still applies - this could be an elaborate hoax. With a 3D printer and basic design skills, you could easily produce a fake iPhone 6 case.

Nothing is confirmed till the iPhone 6 makes its debut at Apple’s launch event. But don’t stop speculating, join us and take a guess at what the iPhone 6 could be.

Update 14/02: Sharp-eyed readers on MacRumours noticed that the purported iPhone 6 leaked photos share the same smudge textures used in his previous renderings. Our hopes of a 5in iPhone are utterly dashed.
