Apple’s crafting up its first Smart Home devices

Fancy an iController or an iSpeaker anyone?

Apple’s i-products have been in your pockets, on your desktops, and in your bags for a while now. And soon, in its endeavor to be everywhere, it will be on your wrists (with the purported iWatch) and under your roof.

We don’t mean you placing these mobile devices around your crib, but rather, having a set of dedicated Apple connected home products. According to 9to5Mac, Apple’s in the midst of fashioning a set of actual hardware products for everyday use, since it unveiled its HomeKit platform at WWDC 2014.

No specifics were revealed on exactly what products it’s designing, but 9to5Mac's sources claim the connected home space is integral for Apple’s growth in future. It also adds that these to-be-revealed products will work in tangent with Apple’s current mobile range, including its iPhones and iPads.

Will there be smart home wars?

In addition, it indicated that the products wouldn't stand contender to the likes of the Nest Learning Thermostat or Honeywell Lyric, but be more widely used conventional tools.

So if it’s looking beyond thermostats and smoke detectors, we predict there’ll be something along the likes of a smart speaker system or some type of universal controller. If so, we’re taking a stab in the dark that Apple might call them the iControl or the iSpeaker.

There’s no telling when these solutions will be launched or made available to the market, but we’re guessing it won’t be too far off in the future since Apple’s already cast its vote of confidence for smart home functionality into iOS 8.

Until then, we’ll sit happy with its wearable device, as well as new iPhones and Macs, expected to be out by the end of this year.
