Singapore, the Asus MeMO Pad 8 and Transformer Pad TF103 are here

You don’t have to fork out much for them, they cost S$269 and S$399 respectively

It’s like Christmas in July, and Asus can be nicknamed Santa for the day. Why, you ask? Because the Taiwanese-American multi-national company has brought to Singapore its Asus MeMO Pad 8 and Transformer Pad TF103 tablets.

The devices, which were shown off as part of a fresh haul of Android tablets, may have kept many of you anticipating it for a while now (they were revealed sometime in February this year) but you don’t have to wait no longer.

They are both available at all Asus authorised stores and brand stores from today, priced at S$269 for the new MeMO Pad ME181 unit, and S$399 for the Transformer Pad TF103 model.

Both models run on Android 4.4 KitKat, powered by 64-bit Intel Atom quad-core processors (quite rare for Android devices), and feature Asus’ latest ZenUI interface.

On closer look

Although Asus tore the wrappers off new MeMO 7 and 8 models, only the MeMO 8 is now being offered in Singapore, maybe because there’s a demand for the bigger 8in tablet here as compared to its 7in tablet brother.

It’s also spec stuffed with a HD 1280 x 800 IPS display, 170-degree wide viewing angles in both indoor and outdoor conditions, and a 189ppi display resolution. We think its 2MP front-facing and 5MP rear-facing cameras could have been increased but for that price, we’re not complaining.

And you have a choice of two colours – the MeMO Pad 8 is available in black and white.

As for the Transformer Pad TF103, it's a 10in Android tablet with HD 1280 x 800 IPS display. What sets it apart though, is its detachable mobile keyboard dock, with a new hidden hinge design. It too, has a HD 1280 x 800 display with IPS technology, as well as 170-degree wide viewing angles.

The Transformer Pad TF103C (inclusive of the dock) is available in black and white colours, but the white version is only exclusive to Best Denki outlets.
