5 million Xbox Ones sold, but the PS4 still wins with 7 million

Seems Titanfall isn't quite enough to make everyone want an Xbox

Microsoft seems to be doing pretty well in the console arena, announcing it has managed to sell over 5 million Xbox One consoles. That would've been impressive... if Sony hadn't said it sold over 7 million PS4s just a few days earlier.

Sorry, Microsoft, Sony's still getting more love.

For the third month in a row, NPD figures show that Sony's still leading in terms of hardware sales, with both companies launching major platform-exclusive games last month.

Microsoft had its Titanfall release on both the Xbox One and PC, while inFamous Second Son came out for the PS4. Titanfall is currently the topselling console game, with Second Son coming in, well, second.

PS4 conquers

Besides Titanfall, the Xbox One also saw three other titles in the top 10 console games list — Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare, Call of Duty: Ghosts, and Metal Gear Sold V: Ground Zeroes.

On the bright side, both consoles are outselling their predecessors by a wide margin. PS4 sales are 94 per cent more than what the PS3 sold in 2007, with the Xbox showing a 56 per cent increase over Xbox 360 sales post-launch.

Microsoft reports that Xbox One fans spend an average of five hours per day on the console, collectively totalling more than one billion hours on games and apps.

The company promises more improvements and frequent system updates to come, with more games to showcase at E3 in June. That certainly sounds exciting, but it can’t be denied that right now the PS4 is still king of the consoles. Heck, it even has its  own TV series. But the main winning factor for the PS4 right now is still the price (overseas anyway), so Microsoft has a tough time there unless it considers unbundling the Kinect.
