Not content with creating the Oncle Sam single kernel popcorn machine, students from Swiss university ECAL have found a way to make use of all that wasted kinetic energy from a rocking chair.
As you rock, the ingenious chair sets a series of gears in motion, knitting you a lovely beanie hat in the colour of your choice.
It may not be quite as tech-savvy as the iRock rocking chair – which charges your iPad as you rock – but you do get a hat at the end of the process. Clearly, rocking chairs are set to be the discerning gadget fan's furniture of choice.
