This Walkman is a fruity piece if kit and the least it deserves is an audition. It's Sony's first MP3 Walkman, and is a huge fan of Windows, not to mention Atrac files.

Slack software subdues Sony
It boasts its own Connect software and immense stamina – it's good for 35 hours of fun times.

Unfortunately, though, things are off to a rocky start. That Connect software isn't very intuitive, and there's no room for images, so you can leave your digital camera alone.

Fortunately, though, the NW-A3000 sounds clear, detailed and as crisp as a bag of Walkers', which should be enough to fend off the software demons. If you're fed up with Apple and like Sony, get in quick, you won't be disappointed.
