The pinnacle of camera phones – pin-sharp pics, a proper flash and topped off with a superb mobile

Megapixels aren’t a problem for today’s camphones, but dedicated snappers have slept easily knowing that none have anything resembling a decent flash.

Well, Sony Ericsson’s first dedicated Cybershot phone is here to rudely interrupt their blissful sleep.

The 3.2MP K800i is the first camphone to sport the same Xenon flash seen in dedicated cameras, and it works brilliantly – shots are crisp and colourful, and even dingy bars can be illuminated.

And once you've captured the bleakness, you can hurl the results at friend's via the power of Bluetooth or MMS.

Our only disappointment is the lack of an optical zoom, which is a big oversight, but doesn’t prevent this from being the best camphone we’ve seen.

I've had this phone nearly 6 months now. It is by far the best phone I've had to date. The quality of the camera is second to none. I've used it a number of times when out with mates, in town or days out, etc... and the pictures have come out immaculate each and every time. As expected, the in built speaker isn't the best, although combined with a decent set of headphones, the phone becomes more than just that. It becomes a superb MP3 player with perfect sound. I recently purchased the "Sony Erricson HBH-DS970s" bluetooth headset <reviewed:

  http://stuff.tv/news/id-5461/default.aspx

>. The sound quality from this headset is crystal clear. As well as that, I have found that the phone is compatible with Windows Media Player version 11, allowing easy transfer of music between my laptop and the Sony Erricson k800i. The screen resolution is another positive. All the pictures taken from the 3.2megapixel camera can be seen clearly on this screen. The zoom function is also yet another plus for the phone. The only down side to the phone is the fact that the M2 memory stick micro isnt included with the phone as it is with the Sony Erricson W880. All in all, the phone has a full 100% rating from me.
