One day in the Stuff offices, our Reviews Ed mused to nobody in particular that if the Sennheiser PXC 310 BT headphones had a mic for taking calls, they could well be the only cans he'd ever need. And it looks like his wish has finally come true with the launch of the Sennheiser MM 450-X.
Like the previous model, this is a light, foldable pair of Bluetooth cans with the hi-fi standard aptX codec, noise-cancelling tech and controls built into the right-hand earcup, but they've also got a microphone, making them as good for phone use as for normal listening.
Partner them with an apt-X enabled phone such as the Samsung Galaxy S III or HTC One X and they sound even better – now we're just hoping the iPhone 5 has apt-X built in.
With such great sound, if they didn't need the occasional recharge we'd never take them off.

I was hoping that the iPhone 5 would have aptX already built in so we could just use these headphones without issue and it would simply be plug and play. Luckily I found a little Sennheiser unit that can add aptX to the iPhone 5 and it does drastically alter the sound to the headphones. http://www.custom-cable.co.uk/sennheiser-btd-300-audio-east-bluetooth-wireless-stereo-transmitter.html

I travel a lot with my work, and would like to know if hooking up a Bluetooth headset onto my iPad2 or iPhone4 would kill the already poor battery life in these devices. However, most of my travel is around 7-8 hours, so would the apples survive that length of journey with Bluetooth being used for even half the journey time?
Thanks

Yeah, that's nice and all, but you've missed a model altogether in between. I have had my MM-400's with integrated headset calling for at least a year now. I can't be without them. I will have to have a look at this apt-x though, to see if the upgrade is worth it for the huge price difference
