All board manufacturers blather on about how their ‘stick’ is sexier than a winter bunny Playboy shoot, but on the Mod board Rome’s spiel is justified.

There aren’t a lot of factors to play with really – it’s a plank of wood covered in shiny laminates that slides on snow. But Rome has pushed the boundaries with the Mod using materials and construction techniques previously reserved for boards costing three times the price.
Prince of the park
Most park boards are built simply to be bomb proof. For the Mod Rome has thrown high-tech thinking and sultry materials into the mix and the result is a ride that is not only durable but lightweight, precise and versatile.

Hard core park rats will love it, so will air virgins; this is the ideal board to start hitting the kickers on. It’s easy to get airborne, stable on landings and still has enough sidecut to blast around the mountain and carve clean lines.

A fistful of features
At the core of the board is a wood mix of poplar and aspen for strength and lighter paulowina in less critical areas with air pockets to reduce weight even further.

Bamboo strips are also added as they store and release energy when jumping. The laminate isn't traditional glass fibre but a high-end carbon mix that gives the finished board even more pop.

The sexy luxury materials don't stop there; for extra strength, titanal aluminium impact plates sit under the binding areas to protect the core from heavy landings and the edges are thicker and taller for rail riding resistance.
