Sometimes having a DAB radio to make some noise in the kitchen or the bedroom isn’t enough. Sometimes your DAB radio has to look the part, make a statement, at the very least match your decorating. That’s when you consider the KT-01 from Intempo.
Green Day (or red, or pink…)
Unless you’ve got some very strange ideas about paint, Intempo has a KT-01 to match your décor. It’s available in an array of colours from sensible black to shocking pink, and there are some limited edition patterns and designs around too.
While it feels no better built than other sub-£100 radios in the Top 10, the KT-01 is a little bit larger than the norm at this price. That means there’s space for two speakers and a worthwhile display.
Tuned into BBC 6Music, a station whose mission is to make mums and dads feel like they’re not yet past it, the KT-01 produces a lively sound. Those stereo speakers allow greater separation and scale than most competitors can summon, and low frequencies are solid. Handily for the marketing department, the Intempo handles tempos with great assurance too.

Loud is not allowed
It’s not an especially loud radio, but that’s not the drawback it might be. The KT-01 doesn’t appreciate being given a caning and can harden its sound noticeably when extra volume is dialled in. Best all round to let it do its thing at background levels.
Even cheap’n’cheerful radios aren’t usually as cheerful as this one. Agonise over your choice of colour by all means, but don’t think twice about investing your cash in the KT-01.
