A stand-out design on a stand-back radio and the paint job just isn’t worth the high asking price

With its hippyish, retro-chic, Matthew Williamson-designed cladding, this radio must belong to a person who glories in standing out from the crowd and has a passion for fashion. They also have a big heart, as a portion of the price tag goes to the Make A Wish Foundation. This is someone who likes to look but not touch, though, as the plastic controls are tacky and the whole thing feels flimsy and without substance. It also lacks any real connectivity and the stereo sonics are a little bass-light and scratchy, so perfect for the gloss-free production on those ’60s and ’70s tracks.
