It's hard to get excited about male underwear, but raving about this set doesn't mean you have some twisted fetish.

These two will stop you freezing your nipples and knackers off in even the coldest climes.

Wooly wonder
Made from Merino sheep wool, these Icebreaker base layers are the ultimate underwear for combating cold weather. All of Icebreaker's wool comes from herds reared in New Zealand's Southern Alps, which has harsh, cold winters and hot, dry summers.

The sheep have evolved a unique wool that helps them survive this stark climate. Merino wool is one of those natural wonders that does its job far better than anything humanity in all its wisdom can devise.

The fibres are much thinner and more densely packed than normal wool and are also far smoother.

They have unique hydrophilic properties (that’s water-loving to you and me) being able to absorb and release up to 10 times more water than synthetic rivals.

Clothes made from Merino are soft on the skin, highly breathable, great at wicking away sweat and give outstanding insulation. All this means some of the best heat regulating and moisture control you can get from a base layer.

Smell sweet – even if you don't wash
The long-sleeve crew has raglan sleeves and a body-profile cut. The leggings are full length and have a soft elastic waistband for added comfort. Even better, you can wear them for an extended trip without risking scaring away bears.

Another benefit of Marino wool is that because they can expel so much moisture, they don't stink, even if you wear them for weeks before you stick them in the wash.
