iAudio X5 Review

iAudio's X5 is a mean-looking, metal-cased digital audio and video player. The display might be wee but it's not to be sniffed at, squeezing in 260,000 colours.  

Use for music rather than movies
The solidly built X5's price includes JetAudio software, which converts various video formats into X5-happy form. Up and running, the 1.8in screen isn't going to replace your local Odeon's – put it this way, it's not ideal for subtitled movies. Action can be stilted but, for a machine of its type, the X5 impresses.

At less than 150g, it's one of the lightest video jukeboxes going, although 3.5 hours of video playback won't keep you entertained for very long before it conks out.

Chances are, however, this 20-Gigger will earn its wedge spinning tunes. Sound delivery is excellent (it even handles the lossless FLAC format) but do yourself a favour and burn those dreadful earbuds.
