Dolphin Browser HD Review

While most of us are happy to load up on shiny new apps for our Android handsets, many won't even consider upgrading from the standard bundled Android browser. And that's a real shame, because there are a few options on the Market that could boost your on-the-go internet experience by miles.

Dolphin is the original break-out Android browser and still one of the best – it looks slick, has massive add-on smarts and a suite of intuitive gesture controls.

When you download you can set Dolphin as your default or keep the option to choose between browsers. We'd recommend the former, as anything else becomes a faff very quickly – you'll soon get used to its Kryptonite-green stylings.

From there you can crack open up to eight tabs at a time – and it opens pages far speedier than your bundled Android offering, as well as handling Flash admirably.

Other bonuses include easy bookmarking, saving and sharing, plus a suite of add-ons that you'd normally expect to see on a desktop browser, such as ad blocking, translate and web to pdf converter.

Another huge plus is the flick controls – no other browser has embraced gesture controls as wholly as Dolphin – as well as the now standard pinch-to-zoom, you can also swipe up, down, left and right to navigate intuitively around a site or between open tabs and even assign special gestures for specific sites.

It might take you a little while to work out all of Dolphin's various controls and assign gestures, but once you've hit your stride your browsing will feel more fluid and enjoyable than most mobile experiences.
