Windows Skymarket to take on Apple's App Store

It might sound like the nefarious computer system that tormented John Connor in Terminator 2 but Microsoft's Skymarket – a Windows Mobile alternative to the iPhone's App Store – could soon be supplying your cell with geo-tagging apps and whatnot – that's if a recently unearthed job ad is anything to go by.

Having seen the success of the App Store – which supplies everything from Super Monkey Ball to Mobile Holy Quran to your iPhone – Microsoft wants a piece of the mobile app pie and are advertising for someone to lead the way.

Of course, Apple zealots would place Microsoft in the same category as the evil Skynet but we reckon that given the ubiquity of Windows Mobile phones such as the HTC Touch Diamond (pictured) in offices and boardrooms across the land it'll be a real hit among the men in suits.

The job ad in question is looking for a senior product manager to 'drive the launch of a marketplace service for Windows Mobile.' Interested? Stick Stuff down as one your references, we'll put a good word in.
