Facebook prepping webmail service?
Facebook is reportedly working on its own webmail service to rival the likes of Gmail and Hotmail.
Known internally as Project Titan, it would see users rid of the rather cumbersome Facebook messaging service that’s currently available, and replaced by a fully-feaured webmail service instead.
There have been hints at a move to expand the messaging in recent additions, such as the ability to add regular email addresses into Facebook messages, and the ability to search your inbox.
However if reports are true, it seems Facebook is preparing to go much further and take on full POP/IMAP support, meaning you’ll be able to access your account on your phone or through a service like Outlook Express or Entourage.
As for your email addres, the sources behind this are saying it would be your username@facebook.com – with your user name being the one you chose when Facebook introduced them back in June last year.
There’s been no mention of timescale for the project, but we’ll be keeping our ear to the ground for more whispers on this. If it turns out to be true, a full-featured webmail product would be a great additional string to Facebook’s already growing bow.

If you go to http://mail.facebook.com/ it sends you to a page that says Facebook webmail! I don't know if this is actually related to this article though.
