Does Amazon have an NFC payment system in the works?

04 Apr 2011

Near field communication (NFC) payment systems are just a way of ‘waving and paying’ and the tech can already be found in some handsets such as Google's Nexus S. Microsoft is said to be getting on board with a forthcoming Windows Phone 7 NFC update, while Apple is rumoured to be dithering. Now Amazon joins the zeitgeist. The chat suggests the online retail behemoth is working on a system that will let us pay for stuff in shops with a swipe of the phone. Is it just us that can't wait for this to happen even though it'll empty our pockets in double time?

    No worries Dustin :)

On the other hand it could be a case of having too many eggs in one basket as if you lost your phone you would be screwed, but I doubt any one would be silly enough to leave their cards at home, unless this technology spread to ATMs.
