Spotify introduces private listening to Facebook

30 Sep 2011

When Spotify announced we needed to sign up with a Facebook account as opposed to email, that was pretty annoying. Rubbing salt in our virtual wound, it then announced it was going to start listing Spotify playlists in our Facebook timelines. Understandably, as not everyone wants to broadcast to the world they're a closet Justin Bieber fan.

The good news is that you don't need to disconnect your account  – Spotify has taken the complaints and criticism on board and has reacted by introducing a new privacy feature – "private listening" – to hide your guilty pleasures. You'll find this feature in the Spotify File menu and can rest easy in the knowledge that no one will ever find out about your questionable music tastes.

How long before Facebook buys out Spotify I wonder. They seem a bit too chummy these days.
