Be afraid, a learning computer has been created

Google’s X Labs, famed for self-driving cars and augmented reality glasses, has fearlessly created a neural network of 16,000 processors – much like a human brain – that actually learns. Then they unleashed on the internet.

Have they not seen Terminator? Their CPU actually is a neural net processor, a learning computer. Although this one is less threatening than The T800 as it’s learned to recognise cats.

The network was shown random thumbnail images from 10 billion YouTube videos and, without being trained to recognise felines, it basically invented the concept of a cat and recognised it from then onwards. It’s ideal for use in translation algorithms and semantic understanding, meaning a future voice activated assistant that actually works like talking to an intelligent being. Scary.
