Need to know – Twitter vs super-injuctions

09 May 2011

Want to know how to get over 25,000 Twitter followers in 24 hours? Defy court-ordered super-injunctions - gagging orders preventing journalists from revealing even the names of the people they 'protect'. That's what @InjunctionSuper did yesterday, gathering hordes of followers and bringing down parts of the Twitter site.

Twitter users have chipped away at suspected gagging-orders for weeks, and last week the Wikipedia entries of several celebrities thought to have obtained super-injunctions were rewritten. Tweeting or retweeting information covered by super-injunctions is illegal, though it would be difficult to enforce the gag on any large social networking community.
