Virgin Media announces Freedom netbook

All the major phone networks have released free-with-contract netbooks recently, except tardy Virgin Media. But after an extended stroke of its goatee

Available for free with its two-year fixed line and mobile broadband deals (which start at £20 per month), the Freedom has the standard netbook roll call of specs – Intel Atom processor, 10.2in screen, Windows XP, 1GB RAM and a 120GB hard-drive.

Sadly, it also has the common three-cell battery that’ll only give you two and half hours of play-time, though Virgin is hoping that the possibility of hooking up to its new 50Mb broadband network will help you ignore that. Sounds like this Zoostorm-made workhorse is one for the lounge rather than the road.
