TVonics MDR-240 – Freeview for the digital switchover

TVonics has just announced its MDR-240 set-top box, the first Freeview receiver that ticks all the Government boxes for the big digital switchover in

Meeting all the "Core Receiver Requirements" as outlined by the government bods, the MDR-240 is a Freeview box that promises to keep it simple by not overloading itself with information it can't process.

It will auto re-tune every night so you'll always have the most up to date channels, has an audio narrative guide for blind or partially sighted viewers, and an eight-day EPG.

It is also low on power consumption which TVonics reckons should ensure it lasts the lifetime of the TV it converts.

Expected on the shelves by early September, the MDR-240 should set you back around £39.99 and will have you all set up and ready for the digital switchover with a good few years to spare.
