Sony HX903 – first 3D TV goes up for pre-order
The first 3D TV has gone up for pre-order in the UK at both Currys and Harrods.
Sony's HX903 model will be available in sizes from 46- to 60-inches, but both retailers have offered up prices for a size smack bang in the middle at 52-inches.
The Sony Centre in Harrods is expecting the 52-inch set to sell for £2,500 with two pairs of Active Shutter 3D glasses included, while Currys is pricing theirs £500 higher at £2999 with no glasses included, costing £99.99 each. We know which offer we'd be going for.
Currys also added it expected the range to start from £1,999, so if you can make do with 6 less inches on your screen, you could save a grand on the price.
Also worth noting is that as the HX903 is only 3D ready, you'll also have to fork out for a 3D transmitter for it to push out an extra dimension (sold for £74.99 at Currys). It's pricey business, this 3D lark.
Both stores are expecting the TVs, which will be compatible with 3D services from both Sky and Virgin Media, to be available in June in time for the World Cup – but if you want to be one of the first early adopters, better get your name down on the pre-order list sharpish.
You'll be able to pre-order the TV at any Currys store across the country, while the cheaper-priced Harrods offer will of course only be available from the Sony Centre at Harrods.
Currys has added its expecting more brands of 3D TVs to be coming in over the next few weeks so perhaps its worth holding out to see what else is on offer.
